FORTRESS was presented at the 9th Side-Channel Analysis Workshop, held on 1 July 2026 in Samcheok, South Korea, where Dr. Jong-Yeon Park (University of the Bundeswehr Munich) delivered a presentation on “EU FORTRESS: Overview and Technical Perspectives.”

The workshop, jointly hosted by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), the National Security Research Institute (NSR), the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), and the Republic of Korea Defense Counterintelligence Command, brought together leading researchers and industry experts working in the field of side-channel analysis and hardware security.

The presentation included the vision and technical objectives of the FORTRESS project, highlighting its approach to strengthen the hardware security through a hybrid secure boot architecture and a flexible Root of Trust. This approach integrates both classical and post-quantum cryptographic algorithms. The presentation also outlined the project’s contributions towards enabling resilient and trustworthy computing platforms capable of supporting the transition to the post-quantum era.

Participation in internationally recognised technical events such as the Side-Channel Analysis Workshop provides an important opportunity to exchange knowledge, showcase European research and innovation, and engage with the global cybersecurity and hardware security community. These interactions foster international collaboration and ensuring that FORTRESS developments remain aligned with emerging research trends and security challenges worldwide.

FORTRESS thanks the workshop organisers and the KIISC Side-Channel Analysis Research Group for the opportunity to present the project and engage with the wider international research community.
